“i need to get on the friggin forums first” – Tyrant the Mad
Members of the Month
Periodicals such as MOTM and OOTM have undergone a revision and are now determined by the number of events a member has attended, awards earned, posts made and reputation gained during the month.
The reason for this change was because when MOTM first started many years ago, officers knew all the members therefore it was easy to get consensus on officers voting to decide who should be the MOTM. Now as our size expands this has become irrelevant, as DI is simply too big now for everyone to know everyone. The new merit-based system will have improved accuracy – and remove favouritism from the equation.
Congratulations to the following members for going above and beyond and achieving glory and prestige for Damage Inc and their Divisions, congratulations!

1000 members and beyond!
Over the course of the last 6 months (May – October 2017) Cohort Starting numbers grew from 163 in May to 297 in October. This is a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.52 %!
At this rate it will take 12 months before we have 1000 initiate Cohorts! We are just shy of reaching the huge milestone of 1000 members and it is definitely a moment to celebrate. Just take a look at the December 2017 Cohort, which has started with a whopping 444 Initiates! It has been an amazing journey so far and our power as a community keeps growing stronger, yet we are still as tight-knit as ever. Well done to everyone who has helped get us to this point – lets aim for 5k!
The Prestigious & Honorable Orders of DI Community
It is with great excitement I unveil to you guys the newest units of prestige in DI.Community. These units are lower in order of precedence to Divisions, however they operate like Divisions in many ways – including being led by a Commander and Vice. At the start of January 2018, HQ will be dissolved and be replaced by four independent Orders, all based on historical events or governing bodies from DI’s history. They will not appear on the MDR separately, as in members who are in an Order can also be in a Division, and since Divisions are higher precedence, the members will be displayed under their respective Division on the MDR. However there will be a TeamSpeak tag for members of Orders.
FAQ: But Why Orders?
The truth is HQ has become too big to handle all the work under its current structure of bureaucracy. Separating the elements that form it into their own historical groups under their own Order will allow our expansion to continue with the right infrastructure and support. We plan to grow our Old Guard (what was formerly known as Activity Managers) to 25+ people and grant them expanded powers (read below), so it only made sense to break HQ up.
The Order of the Anti Farming Unit
The first founding principle of DI in 2012 was elitism. We were #1, only accepted the best and nothing else mattered. Throughout our history you will famously find references to the legendary and feared AFU. They were elites with a thirst for DI’s enemies blood. They even famously ruthlessly destroyed allied members who were deemed too weak, fulfilling Darwin’s theory of “Survival of the Fittest”. Since the Order of the Anti Farming Unit traces its history right back to the very first days of DI – it is first in order of precedence. This Order is in honor of DukeBane, Lars & Strongandbald – the ancient founding members of AFU and DI’s very first elite players over five years ago in 2012.
Membership – The Elites of Damage Inc
This Order will continue its historic tradition of being an establishment of the elite within DI, those who strive to be the best of the best in their games, and will provide support and administrative services to these players.
The Order of the Vetus Praesidio (Latin: Old Guard)
The second founding principle of DI in 2012 was discipline. In DI’s early days discipline was seen the crux that won every battle, setting our forces apart from the disorganized rabble we fought against. The Order of the Vetus Praesidio (latin for Old Guard) is the second oldest order and second in the order of precedence. It traces its history right back to the very early beginnings of DI. Through its enforcement of discipline, it has allowed us to overcome enemies even greater in power and ability than us, made us the highest ranked and most organized gaming community in the gaming world. Through discipline we have embarked on highly complicated endeavors and allowed us to come through victorious on the other side. This Order is in honor of KnigtCulex the first Activity Manager (back then known as a Warden) of DI in February 2013.
Membership – The Old Guard of Damage Inc
This Order will be made of up of members formerly known as Activity Managers. Their sole purpose will be to maintain our high standards and discipline, and they will receive expanded responsibilities and powers that are aligned to how things were done in the “old days”. With our big size, we need a dedicated strong force who can uphold our rules.
The Order of the Ludus Magnus
The third founding principle of DI in 2012 was teamwork. Through this principle since our beginning, we were able to be extremely selective on who we accept into DI. Those who did not understand the concept of teamwork were quickly discarded and those who understood it had the honor to receive the experience and knowledge of our older members and thus continuing our quest for power, community and growth. Strong teamwork is what has built and kept this community in the tight-knit state that it has become famous for. The Ludus Magnus within DI is named after greatest Gladiator Training School from the Ancient Roman Empire, and since its creation in 2013 it has graduated over 50 cohorts of hardened and loyal DI members. The Order of the Ludus Magnus is the third oldest order and third in the order of precedence. This Order is in honor of Moshay08 the Initiate Manager of DI’s first ever cohort in October 2013.
Membership – Initiate Managers & Mentors of Damage Inc
This Order will be made of up Initiate Managers and Mentors. Its primary purpose is to continue to ensure a high quality of mentors who are mentoring and initiates who are graduating to join the ranks of full members within DI.
The Order of Imperium (Latin: Command)
The fourth founding principle of DI in 2012 was leadership and command. DI understood that a disciplined force without a strong leader was nothing more than a cattle being led to the slaughter. Decisive leadership was needed to form and deliver the final blows to DI’s opponents and ultimately claim victory. Throughout the years, DI has placed a very high priority in the competence and expertise of its leaders at all levels. It has always been seen as an honor to lead members, and therefore disrespectful if the absolute best effort was not given when presented with the opportunity. The Order of Imperium (latin for Command) is the fourth oldest order and fourth in the order of precedence. This Order is in honor of Kronos the founding leader of DI’s first officer training curriculum in 2014.
Membership – The Officer Instructors and Trainee Officers of Damage Inc
This Order will consist of all Officers Instructors who are responsible for the officer training curriculum in DI Community as well as officers undergoing training. A complete revamp of this curriculum is coming in January 2018, with a month long cohort similar to how Initiate Cohorts are run with Top 3 graduates.
All Division pages has received a wiki-style update. While they are still a Work in Progress, they will capture the Division’s culture, history, notable members and anything else related to it. They can be found on our home page, or click here.
New Domain! (di.community)
As you all by no doubt have already noticed, we transferred our forums to a new domain. Keeping it in line with di.events, di.esports and our latest addition di.exchange. The old domain of forums.dmg-inc.com was not aligned with our branding strategy going forwards, so the adjustment was made.
Season Awards – Autumn 2017
Congratulations for the following members for winning an Autumn Award, for their efforts they get a Signature Bar.
Well done, your efforts have been recognized by the community, so keep it up!
Our Newest Divisions
7th Division – back in action!
Thanks to the rapid growth Rocket League has gone through, it’s already time to get their 2nd Division up and running. Well done to everyone involved in DI-VII re-establishment and we look forward to see it reach new glories. Many big things are expected and everyone continues to look on in anticipation.
19th Division – congratulations!
Continuing their growth and building on their latest success, 5th Division managed to split twice this month which led to the birth of 19th Division. Well done to everyone involved in DI-XIX building it up to reach new glories. Many big things are expected and everyone continues to look on in anticipation.
20th Division – congratulations!
Continuing their growth and building on their latest success, 3rd Division managed to split again this month which led to the birth of 20th Division. Well done to everyone involved in DI-XX building it up to reach new glories. Many big things are expected and everyone continues to look on in anticipation.
Legion shuffle (With Effect January 1st 2018)
Just a quick administrative update on the changes that will be in effect in the new year. With our recent growth we’ve had to re-calibrate our legions in order to keep growing as effectively as possible while maintaining compliance. Below a summary of the set-up.
Reason for this change is to:
– We are at full capacity currently with all three legions having the maximum 7 Divisions. In order for us to continue expanding, we will be introducing Legion Sabre in 2018.
Code Of Ops Updates – Important!
We have implemented a lot of changes this month to address problems caused by our growth. Only a year ago, we were a clan just over 400 members. Now, we plan to break 1,000 members by the end of the year. These structural changes are adaptations to our new size, and will benefit the clan as a whole.
New Contribution-based Member Rank:
Senior Rank > Mentor Rank available to all Mentors
Only 18% (37/199) of all members, elite members, seniors, and veterans offered themselves as mentors for 278 November Cohort. With the growing size of the clan, this is unsustainable. After deep discussions with other senior officers within DI, it was agreed that more incentive and benefits need to be given to make mentoring a respectable contribution to the clan. Mentors will be given access to the Speak-Easy and the Ludus Magnus. To receive the mentor rank, sign up as a mentor, as it is a volunteer rank that anyone can ask for.
Veteran Rank update
Veteran rank can alternatively be earned by having an officer achievement
- Officer’s Signet (Awarded to those who served as a Team Leader or Division Vice for 6+ Months)
- Tome of Wisdom (Awarded to those who served as a HQ Officer for 6+ Months)
- Commander’s Coat of Arms (Awarded to those who Commanded a Division for 6+ Months)
- General’s Coat of Arms (Awarded to those who Commanded a Legion for 6+ Months)
This is to recognize the service of an officer upon them stepping down/retiring from leadership.
New Member Symbols
The changes have been reflected in the Code of Ops.
UPDATE: Captains & Vices will still be able to sign up to Mentor and will be used once all Mentors have been exhausted.
The Calendar will be organized by Games as well as Divisions
Once again, the calendar is overwhelming and problematic. There are too many calendars, many being redundant, such as the three League of Legends calendars and three Overwatch calendars. It’s harder to participate in other division’s events with the calendar so fragmented.
Social Game Calendars have been created for each of the games DI represents, with all events in here being considered open for any member to attend. Division Calendars will exist to be used for closed events such as Team Training sessions or Division Meetings / Division Officer Meetings.
Unifying Clan Events
New Clan Event: Festival
Clan events outside of Morning Tea have fallen by the wayside. BBQ attendance is minimal, and features a game that does not have much universal appeal. We want to improve our tight-knitted culture and bring as many people as possible together across all divisions. The new Festival event will be hosted twice a day at EU and NA prime times and will rotate among all divisional games. A new event token will be created for this event!
An example of how this would work is:
We have a rolling list of events on the CLAN calendar for every single night of the week, for every game that is official in DI (based on size). For Example, since Overwatch (currently) has the largest game population, they would get prime time every Saturday Night as “Overwatch Night”, League, the 2nd biggest would get Friday Night as “League of Legends Night”, Sunday would become “Pokemon Night” as the 3rd biggest and the week nights of Mon-Thu night would rotate over a 2 week period through the other games in DI, so on Week 1 Thursday Night would be “Dota Night”, Wednesday – “Rust Night” and so on, then the following week it would be “PUBG Night”, “Ark Night” etc.
Everyone in DI would be invited to attend these as they will be “OPEN” events, hosted by the officers of those respective divisions, and they will be a big deal to attend (most likely a special event token will be created). The events will be posted on the CLAN Calendar (Only MT’s will still have mandatory RSVP). And the idea would be to form a habit, so that over time everyone will associate Friday Night with “LoL Night”, and for smaller games/divisions, every second Wednesday people will know its “Ark Survival Night”. These events will happen no matter what, on time, every time – and everyone will know about them. This is how we are going to build more integration.
Division Transfer Changes
The game you are playing must align with the Division you are transferring to.
Anyone wishing to transfer has to present their Steam account link. In steam you can view someone’s activity, including what they played in the last 2 weeks and how much, so if someone has played 40 hours of Dota and tries to transfer ie. an Overwatch Division, that transfer will be declined. Reason for this is we have space issues, so we have to be more careful about assigning space on MDR, and secondly, it’s to prevent people from abusing the system.
There is still a freedom of movement between SAME GAME divisions (eg, someone who plays Overwatch could compete/try out for any team in any of the 3 Overwatch Divisions). This provides Team Leaders the greatest pool of people to get their comp teams off the ground.
Small changes in regards to HQ have taken place, be aware of the following:
- Link to the Probation sub-forum has been added to Members drop down Menu.
- Anyone returning from STA/LTA will be exempt from a failure to notify attendance strike to Clan events for 48 hours.
- If you transfer back to a Division you have previously been a member of, you may not transfer again for 5 months.
If you transfer back to a Division you have been a member of in the last 12 months, you may not transfer again for 5 months.
- Being placed on Probation in the last 6 months will prevent you obtaining the Star of Discipline.
Not receive a strike or Probation in 6 consecutive months.
Standardized recruiting awards
Awards given out for recruiting will be standardized
Currently there is disparity in awarding for recruiting. In some Divisions you only have to recruit 3 people and you get a silver commendation, in others you have to recruit 50 for a bronze (both are extreme but you get the point). To prevent abuse of the system and standardize the awards given out, the following will be adapted:
Tier A Games (Easiest to recruit for)
- League of Legends
- Counter Strike
- Ark Survival
- Pretty much 95% of DI Games
Tier A Standardized Awarding
- Silver Commendation – 20 Recruits
- Bronze Commendation – 10 Recruits
Tier B Games (Slightly harder to recruit for)
- Atlas Reactor
Tier B Standardized Awarding
- Silver Commendation – 14 Recruits
- Bronze Commendation – 7 Recruits
- Honor Stars are not to be awarded as they are for in-game effort
- Silver Commendation is the highest award eligible – Gold Commendation is not eligible.
Minimizing Officer Demand
The number of casual teams a Division is allowed to have is based of its numbers.
C please add to announcement “officer needs” and make a note that the number of casual teams a division can have depends on its number of casual players (up to 3):
- up to 15 casual members = no more than 1 casual team allowed
- 16-30 casual members = 2 casual teams (no more)
- 31-45 casual members = 3 casual teams
A grace period will be given (7 days) when a breach happens. If after these 7 days there are too few members compared to the amount of casual teams, they will be merged together. A casual team should have at least 8+ members in it, unless there is only 1 casual team around.
Length of Officer Ban for Venture Leaders has been reduced from 6 to 2 months.
We encourage our members to participate or venture into new territories and bring new games into DI. As Ventures are not equal to Divisions, we shouldn’t punish people from taking a risk for DI. Therefore the length of the Officer Ban upon failure of a Venture has been reduced by 4 months.
Congratulations to the Cohort of november 2017 for joining our ranks as full members. You have no doubt gone through a somewhat difficult process in the Ludus Magnum, where many of your peers fell to the relentless assaults from the activity managers, your Commanders and Team leaders who expect the highest performance from you and lastly, the barrier tests from the Initiate Managers. Due to the demand, some of you have been offered officer positions to take up more responsibility within the clan. Ensure you use this to the glory of DI and always for the best of the clan as a whole.
Top 3 Initiates of this Cohort:
The following 3 members finished at the top of their Cohort, and have been given their Final Oaths with honours. Congratulations:
1st – Sol
2nd – Fluix
3rd – Plok
These 136 members have graduated the november 2017 Cohort, Congratulations:
Officer Achievements are critical in recognizing the members of the community who have worked very hard in helping their teams, divisions, legions and overall the clan. Many people can be an officer, but very few have the stamina to endure through the challenges and obstacles that comes with being an officer for so long. For those officers who endured in their roles and served at least six months in a particular position, they are awarded an officer achievement depending on their position. Many achievements are a pre-requisite for a higher appointment in DI.
